Diana Jabi (b. 1982) is a visual artist and flâneur originally from Syria/Romania who currently lives in Barcelona.
Diana Jabi was invited to the residence programme by curator Abir Boukhari, AllArtNow during spring 2018. She participated in the festival The FittjaKitchen Warm Up where she performed her work by creating a map of Damascus using different kinds of sweets. When the map was finished, everyone was offered to eat of the sweets until it all was gone.
The map of Damascus is returning motif in Diana’s work, like a memory that changes and takes new forms over time. In the performance she connects the city of Damascus with Stockholm, where the pieces of candy becomes something common to both places.
