Junior Residence 2016: We play a role
The starting point was to create an interactive work of art that could be activated in the public space. The group started by examining the “game” as a concept and a form. Through role-playing and exercises, they tested the game’s structure and possibilities.
The result was an oversized board game with 140 artistically designed tiles in linoleum that was laid out in Fittja square. The idea of the game was not about winning, but cooperating in groups of at least 3 and together completing a number of missions and challenges that arose along the course of the game.
We play a role was activated during Botkyrka Konsthall’s Art Festival & Flea Market at Fittja Torg on September 17, 2016 and was also included in the exhibition Transitions / Transitions in Botkyrka Konsthall, October 1, 2016 – January 31, 2017.

Junior Residence is a three-week residency for young creatives based in Botkyrka, who get the opportunity to explore, experiment and create their own collective art project.
Youths aged 15-18 can apply for a paid summer job through the municipality’s recruitment agency, and through a process of interviews, a group of 6 individuals are selected for the residency. Artistic leaders and pedagogues are: Saadia Hussain and Kerstin Gezelius.
Junior Residence is a collaboration between the Multicultural Centre and Botkyrka Konsthall. Botkyrka Residence is supported by Botkyrkabyggen.
