Matti Aikio (b. 1980) is a Sámi visual artist from Finnish side of the Sápmi.
He has a background in Sámi reindeer herding culture, and holds an MA in contemporary art from Tromsø Academy of Contemporary Art. In his artistic practice that encompasses a wide range of media, he wants to offer the spectators a possibility to shift perspective on established opinions and marginalised topics. Matti Aikio also performs as a DJ.
Matti Aikio was in Fittja during the autumn / winter 2019-2020 and did research as well as presented a selection of works in connection to an artist’s talk in Botkyrka konsthall.
In 2022 he participated in the exhibition Unfinished Histories at Botkyrka konsthall.
